An important feature that is usually used to create an artist identity would be the use of intertextuality, that can be used in not only music videos but also in Digipaks. Many artists use intertextuality in their album covers so that someone of their target audience can recognise the product as something that they have created. An example of this would be Linkin Park, who always use large, dark (usually black) bold, square fonts, all in capital letters, to present their name on the cover of their albums (See right). The names of the albums are also significant in regard to intertextuality, as their meanings are not at first clear to the audience, therefore making people want to listen to the album and the lyrics of the songs to find out why the artist called the albums by these names. This is apparent across many of the names for their albums such as 'Meteora', 'Hybrid Theory' and 'A Thousand Suns', all of which are ambigious and interesting. The album covers are clearly recognisable as being produced by the same artist, therefore creating a common identity and familiarity by which fans can recognise them by.
